I recently interviewed two passionate, purposeful women whose life stories warmed my heart and soul—Tuania Michelle Wright and Rhonda Darville. Both women boldly proclaim that they found their true life purpose by spending meaningful time with God, their Creator and their Friend.
Both women endured untold hardship. Both women could have blamed God for their suffering and wallowed in anger and self-pity. But instead—instead—they realized that going through the fires of life served to purify them into gold—into the women they are today. No bitterness. No self-loathing. Only deep love and gratitude for their Creator and a burning desire to share His love and compassion with others.
How many of us can say that? How many of us can look back on the difficulties we’ve experienced in life and be grateful for them? Tuania joyfully proclaims that hurting as much as she did served to give her a greater testimony. Rhonda says her experiences taught her to embrace forgiveness—forgiveness of herself as well as forgiveness of others. She is now free to live authentically and transparently—unconditionally loving, giving, serving. Rhonda refers to herself as “a bondservant, a willing slave to Christ,” yet this woman is joyfully free indeed.
Spending time with God. What does that mean? For Tuania, it means journalling. She writes out her prayers and thoughts and feelings and enjoys going back and reading her entries later. She described how reading her journals recently reminded her that God had given her “dreams that would not die.” Rhonda urged us to seek God through His Word, reading Scripture regularly, to find out who He really is and how He wants us to live our lives. She described how she loves to spend time with God in nature. A native of the Bahamas, Rhonda is particularly moved when reflecting upon the splendor and magnificence of God’s ocean.
Through journalling, prayer, and Scripture reading, these ladies have come to know God intimately. They have no doubt who they are called to be and what they are called to do. I would imagine it’s not easy to share your life story with the public on a radio interview. But for Tuania and Rhonda, it was a privilege. They are so excited about what God has done in their lives that they want to proclaim His forgiveness and compassion to everybody. Everybody. Bless them for their courage. Bless them for their message. Bless them for their love.
