After surveying hundreds of women, Diane Markins learned that all women are unique yet desire the same top 10 things in life. She’ll share some personal stories, what the top 10 are, and what we need to do to begin allowing God to “Bring It!” As women focus on the needs of others, they can get out of touch with what they desire, letting dreams slip away. Diane’s message is a reminder that paying attention to the desires of our own hearts is not selfish, but a way to replenish our ability to continue doing all we are called to accomplish.
“I’ve learned that all women want and need the same things, but we each need encouraging reminders that God is able and willing to bring It to us. I love sharing stories from my life and others about surprising ways He’s done just that.”
About Diane Markins
Diane Markins brings insight, inspiration, and a smidge of intentional insanity to her audiences. She writes and speaks in a “high def, authentic style” about issues that impact daily living for women of all ages and stages. You’ll find her work at CBN.com, MOPS.org, the Presidential Prayer Team, and a variety of print publications. She contributed to two recently released women’s devotionals, Quiet Reflections of Peace and Take My Heart, Oh God.
“I believe that surviving life’s challenges offers us an opportunity to learn and help others through their journey. By sharing my experiences candidly–as well as how God met me there— I am able to relate to women on an intimate level, bringing them renewed hope and refreshed faith.”
Diane’s Coaching Suggestion
*Schedule an hour alone with God (which may be challenging but sooo worth it!). Tell God what your life is like (He knows, but voicing it will bring a clear picture to YOUR mind) and ask Him to reveal your heart’s deepest current desires.
*Start writing a letter from God to you. If you are a long-time believer, this will be easier. If not, ask a mature woman of faith to coach you through this exercise. God will help you discern the desires that match with His intentions for you and bring clarity. For an example, see “Let God Speak” on my blog at www.DianeMarkins.com.
* If you can name your top needs, list them and consider: (1) why they matter to you; (2) how you can be sure they align with God’s word; (3) what you have already done to meet these needs; and (4) what is one new thing you could do this week to move toward meeting your top need.
Diane’s Quote for the Day
“It is not my ability, but my response to God’s ability, that counts.” ~Corrie ten Boom

On February 18th Beth and I talked with Diane Markins about the ten top things women desire—as discovered through Diane’s extensive interviews—and what happens when we specifically and boldly ask God to bring these desires into our lives. Though of course I strongly encourage you to listen to the recording, this is what Diane discovered (in no particular order):
Women want health & beauty; love& marriage; home & family; meaningful friendships; respect; laughter; personal time (“me time”); security & safety; purpose & passion; and a deep connection to God. Diane is writing a book about this topic which is due for release in November.
She encourages us to live contentedly through challenging circumstances and not give up hope. Ever.
A wonderfully inspirational discussion.
Thank you so much, Diane, for blessing us with your wisdom and humor!
Warmly,
Jory
