Thinking of balancing sweat-of-the-brow work and restful leisure brings to mind a tall, skinny man teetering on a beach ball while spinning ten plates in the air….and Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel.
Balance. How do people (and squirrels) do it????? I gave up long ago. But at least I try to integrate a healthy dose of F*U*N into my life. Just this morning I saw a news clip about the healing qualities of laughter. The cardiologist being interviewed said it’s especially good for the prevention of heart disease. Yes! Laughter is good for our hearts and souls. Patch Adams got it right!
I wonder what you do to bring joy and laughter into your life. I smile at cute pictures of water-skiing squirrels. I laugh with my teen-aged daughters (who are an endless source of amusement). I watch romantic comedies with my husband. I attend Broadway musicals as often as our budget allows. I crack up over the antics of our toy poodle. And I share good times with friends.
If we’re going to live purposefully, passionately, and joyfully, we must be intentional about weaving fun into our lives. Working too much will zap our energy and sap our soul. This weekend I’m in Chicago visiting friends and attending a leadership conference. Without a doubt, F*U*N is high on our agenda. How ‘bout you? What fun activities do you have planned?
Curious minds want to know.
Joyfully,
