To Be Successful as a Purpose-Guided Entrepreneur, Thou Shalt ~

1. Nurture thy faith in God. Daily.

“… let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…” (Hebrews 10:22)

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

2. Know thy God-given purpose.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

3. Hone thy skills and develop thy God-given talents.

“Fan into flame the gift of God…. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1: 6-7)

4. Commit thy work to God: to excellence, not just competence.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for me, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.” (Colossians 3:23-24)

5. Commit to a high standard of ethics, integrity, diligence, and trust.

 

 

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:10-31)

“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5)

6. Overcome thy fears and doubts. Trust God.

“Trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

7. Be thyself.

“Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.” (Galatians 6:4)

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

8. Surround thyself with people who give thee godly counsel.

“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.” (Proverbs 19:20)

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

“The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.” (Proverbs 12:15)

9. Ask insightful questions. Listen well. Stay calm.

“The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.” (Proverbs 20:5)

“If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.” (Proverbs 18:13)

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.” (James 1:19)

10. Focus.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

“Fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.” (Hebrews 3:1)

“… and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

11. Eat well to equip thyself for service.

“At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.” (Daniel 1:15)

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

12. Nourish thy mind and heart.

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

13. Be happy.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)

14. Be generous.

“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25)

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9: 6-7)

15. Rest!

“And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” (Genesis 2:3)

“Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint.” (Proverbs 23:4)

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:1-3)
